With it's origins going back to the early 1970's, the club was formed by a group of enthusiasts to promote education about the breed and the versatility of activities in which the breed excelled.

Early members worked together with a great spirit of enthusiasm and support to create the foundations of the club as it stands to this day.

As the members' individual pursuits expanded, the club grew and supported specialty shows, breed boosters held in conjunction with all breed shows, obedience, sledding and carting, and in more recent years agility and therapy work. And of course as always - the very important and time consuming task of breed rescue.

Today - as with most clubs - the membership is smaller, but there is a core of very dedicated members who still actively support and showcase their dogs and work tirelessly for rescue and betterment of the breed. Members still support and encourage conformation, obedience, and sledding as they work to preserve the breed's inherent abilities while never compromising on the breed standard or ethics.

Rescue

Rescues are dogs who have been found as strays or turned into local shelters. They are usually healthy, loving dogs who would make great pets. Before being placed they are evaluated for health and temperament, spayed or neutered, and vaccinated. Often these are dogs whose former owners did not learn enough about the breed before purchasing a cute, fluffy puppy. When the dog grew into an active, intelligent,
independent adult, they chose to surrender the dog instead of giving him/her the training and discipline necessary to make a well-adjusted
member of the family.


Rehomes are dogs needing placement in new homes. Often they are younsters who did not develop into show or breeding stock or dogs whose owners can no longer keep them but are unwilling to place them in rescue. Their history is known, they are up-to-date on shots, and are spayed or neutered. The owner may be charging a fee for the dog.

Please note: We take no responsibility for the dogs listed here and have not screened all the animals listed on the site. It is the adopter's responsibility to fully investigate the dog in question. We will list an owner surrendered dog or rehome that is not being taken in to foster care by us. We would appreciate a small donation to help offset our costs for the website, our time and any long distance charges we may incur. We are always ready to help but lack funds.
